The Ford Model Y was launched in 1932 and was the first Ford to be designed specifically for a non American Market. Once the higher tax laws came in for cars with bigger engines Bob Gregorie (a former boat builder) designed the Model Y, it was thought to be the cheapest 4 seater saloon every made at the time. On August 10 1932 the first Model Y left the production line. The little car was felt to combine modern looks with superior performance.
